 Position Summary:

As a member of the professional staff, the Senior Tax Analyst contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, and Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary: (describe the nature and purpose of the position) The Senior Tax Analyst supports the Tax Manager and Director to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all state and local indirect income tax processes and laws for Marriott Vacations Worldwide ("MVW"). This includes the review, filing, and payment of approximately 4,500+ returns annually. The Senior Tax Analyst researches and documents state and local tax reporting requirements and participates in the reporting processes to ensure compliance with state and local tax sales and use, lodging, and federal information reporting requirements for all domestic locations where MVW conducts business. The Senior Tax Analyst will also perform an audit role by reviewing work completed Tax Specialists and Tax Accountant as directed by Tax Manager. The Senior Tax Analyst will also perform related duties and projects as assigned in support of the company's tax reporting and compliance responsibilities.

Expected Contributions:

Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects.

Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones. 

Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk. 

Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results.

May direct work of non-management staff. 

Achieving business results by: 

Identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes. 

Providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution. 

Participating in setting department operating plans. 

Utilizing technical knowledge and skills to provide accurate and timely work product, and  establishing priorities for self in order to meet deadlines and follow company policies and procedures.

Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

Performs other duties as appropriate.

 Expected Contributions: (including duties and responsibilities) 

Prepares and/or reviews tax workpapers supporting filing of state and local sales, use and occupancy tax returns.

Complete research and documentation regarding federal, state, and local tax and reporting requirements for more complex tax issues including changes to the business and tax law changes. 

Assist Manager with indirect tax processes to ensure accurate and timely compliance with indirect tax reporting and filing requirements on a monthly and annual basis. 

Assist manager with response and resolution to inquiries from various jurisdictions. 

Setup prepare and coordinate payments for applicable taxes through accounts payable and EFT. 

Assist Manager with documentation and compliance with all policies and procedures for indirect tax team. 

Performs special projects as requested by Manager and Director.

Candidate Profile: Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills while also possess the ability to accurately complete tasks assigned on a timely basis with little supervision.

Specific Candidate Profile (the education, experience, skills and attributes that are important for this position)

Education 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent work experience. Experience 

3+ years experience in sales and use tax or other corporate tax experience. 

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including proven ability to use/or learn advanced program features to create process efficiencies within job duties.

Skills/Attributes: 

Strong communication skills and ability to work in team environment.

Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented. 

Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
