Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks.

Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)

We are looking for an experienced brand manager who is a passionate brand champion. You will join a dynamic team and environment where you will work on developing, enhancing and nurturing our consumer brands, Westin Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club and Luxury Brands.

Expected Contributions

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on standard/routine business requests with limited risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
    • utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes.
    • establishing priorities for self and, where appropriate, others.
    • allocating own time effectively to meet goals in a manner that does not disadvantage other associates or groups.
    • contributing to department/unit budget as appropriate (i.e., input, following guidelines, etc).
  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

  • Deep understanding and passion around our brand vision, mission, goals and strategies and the ability to ensure how and what we communicate is in service to this foundation.
  • Thorough understanding and ownership of brand guidelines and standards that govern our brand identities.
  • Championing the brands internally making sure all areas of the company understand the brands and their goals. Work to help support the alignment of internal partners around the brands' direction, choices and tactics.
  • Developing and sustaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal partners to ensure that the brand strategy and vision is being applied consistently. This may include everything from brainstorming marketing initiatives and identifying appropriate marketing channels to reviewing property-level brand activations and other assets before a campaign or initiative goes live. Consistency in communication is essential to establishing brand recognition.
  • Evaluate creative executions against agreed upon strategic project brief to ensure adherence to brand standards.
  • Work with internal and external agency partners on brand-related initiatives and communications.
  • Assist in the on-going tracking and reporting of our brand health.
  • Monitor and respond to all brand review submissions and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Assist in translating brand strategies into brand plans, brand positioning and go-to-market strategies. Assist in representing the brand in these activities.
  • Monitor market trends, research consumer markets and competitors' activities to identify opportunities and key issues.
  • Review marketing and advertising activities to ensure consistency with brand strategy.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction scores and consumer reactions.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and provide solutions.
  • Brainstorm new and innovative approaches.
  • Analyze customer communications and highlight areas of opportunity or conflicting messages.
  • On-going monitoring and analysis around how our brand is positioned in the market and crystalize targeted consumers' insights.
  • Assist in the creation of a brand implementation and communication plan consistent with the brand strategy and ensuring customer communications align with the ethos and goals of the brand.
  • Work with the audit team to conduct regular brand pulse audits for our brands (Westin Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club and Luxury Brands).
  • Conduct personal brand audits on property when required (travel 10-15%)

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources). College degree and/or related experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile (the education, experience, skills and attributes that are important for this position)

  • Proven working experience as brand manager, junior or associate brand manager
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with a consumer brand
  • Hospitality experience a plus
  • Experience with the Westin Vacation Club and/or Sheraton Vacation Club brands a plus
  • Experience working with internal and/or external agencies
  • MBA preferred but not required; BS/MS degree in marketing or a related field
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and comfortable presenting to large groups of people.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Drive for results and relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks at one time
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment and work independently to complete tasks
  • Excellent understanding of the full marketing mix
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Comfortable working with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets
  • Experience in identifying target customers and understanding their attitudes and beliefs around our brand
  • Up-to-date with latest trends and brand management best practices
