As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.


Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)

Responsible for the technical design, delivery and support of Marriott Vacation Ownership's customer facing branded mobile applications. Partners with key stakeholders and leaders to define the mobile applications roadmap, corresponding projects, and execution strategy for delivering the mobile customer experience. Partners with senior IT leadership, planning & other technical teams to manage needed dependencies and integrations. This leadership role will stay current on trends and technology and provide guidance on overall mobile application strategy, experience, and design. This leader defines the requirements on backend systems and API's which power the mobile experience and works in conjunction with other teams to enable required integrations. Leads internal and external resources to develop and approve the business and functional requirements, translates the requirements into the technical designs, defines reasonable units of work to be executed upon and manages the resulting implementations.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

Responsible for leading mobile application development team and projects. Supports creation & maintenance of the mobile application roadmap for the enterprise, and contributes directly to related governance efforts.

• Gathers requirements from multiple sources, obtains and coordinates appropriate approvals, and partners with internal and external partners to execute mobile application initiatives.

• Responsible for developing and implementing mobile development processes and ensuring that the mobile team can execute according to guidelines provided.

• Supports communication and education efforts to vacation owner servicing teams to enable them to assist users

• Partners with product owners and production managers in the execution of the mobile application roadmap.

• Leads through influence and collaboration across functions, departments and geographic boundaries.

• Manages and oversees all aspects of mobile application development including strategy, UI design, release planning, and support.

• Vendor relationship management with Apple, Google, Amazon and other third-parties that power our mobile applications. Nurture partnership with said vendors to meet business objectives, overcome challenges, and manage the rapidly evolving features being made available.


Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile (the education, experience, skills and attributes that are important for this position)


  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area preferred (Computer Science, IT, User Experience, Human Computer Interaction, Digital Marketing, Information Architecture, etc.). Relevant experience will be considered.
  • Advanced courses and/or professional certifications in software development, communication, leadership, strategy, and/or project management a plus.


  • Significant experience managing the development of customer facing mobile applications.
  • Expert level experience with mobile development technologies (Swift/Objective-C for iOS, Java/Kotlin for Android, etc.), hybrid platform development is a plus, native development experience on either iOS or Android (preferred both) is a must
  • Experience with mobile integrations to backend services, mobile analytics, in-app messaging and push notification solutions.
  • Experience in securing mobile applications including complying with standards around mobile payments
  • Experience presenting proposals to senior management to gain buy-in and encourage specific actions or strategies is required. Experience developing team vision and strategies and gaining buy-in from team members.
  • Applied understanding of User Experience Architecture, User-Centered Design Analysis and mobile application design. Good understanding front to back of a company's operational flow.
  • 5+ years of technical management/leadership experience, including direct supervisory experience and experience mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • 5+ years managing public facing mobile applications solutions.
  • Experience in a multi-channel environment (web, mobile, agent, automated phone, etc.) and how mobile integrates into that is a plus


  • Proven leadership skills plus excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer relationship management, presentation, and consulting skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and team organization skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work with numerous teams at all levels, including senior level and executive leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new hardware/software systems independently and adapt to a changing technical environment.
  • Expert in mobile application development and testing technologies.
  • Ability and willingness to take direction from IT and business leaders.
  • Familiar with the full software development lifecycle.
